About The Play
Dumb Trigger is an adventure story about a divorced dentist, a soon-to-be father, and a bar owner who, in an attempt to better their lives, plan to steal a rare diamond from an Arab petroleum trader. The play is set entirely in the bar and is dependent on the actors to create most of the story.
Designer's Statement
Dumb Trigger was performed in a coffee-shop basement. Since the play is both a comedy and set in a bar, the atmosphere was created with attention to detail—from posters on the walls to small toys placed around the set. In order to enrich the empty walls, I pasted Kraft paper to the walls and painted it along with hanging real art pieces and paintings. Among other objects, I painted a phonograph, a shelf, and umbrellas as well as wine bottles that were to be alternated with real wine bottles. Real items and wall-painted items appeared simultaneously to make audience members feel strange and off-kilter. Through dialogue and action, the actors created a jungle, an airplane, and other fictitious places—all without leaving the bar, which created a similar juxtaposition as the real and wall-painted items.

The original space
A long-shape space: there is a huge table posited, which is too heavy to move.
Researches
Bars with differing lights
(bright vs. dim), full of posters and toys, colorful but lonely.
Wall with posters and other colorful paintings.
Easy Sketch
I want to change the bookcase into a liquor cabinet, and add paintings on the wall.
Some are real , some are not. Have this space be full.
